Why? Why do we feel lost, ignored or alone in a crowd or a relationship? Why do we fall sometimes?
It’s interesting how things can be so beautiful and exciting for such a long time and then all of a sudden our emotions become succumbed by a blizzard of negativity and sadness. The sadness and anxiety can make us feel trapped with no exit and, worst of all, with no light to give us hope. It hurts even more to feel these negative emotions within a relationship, to feel alone in a relationship only feeds despair and darkness.
In times like these it is important to put yourself into perspective and take a moment consider what is going on. I am no relationship expert, but when you and your partner are unable to agree on an issue, it is always good to step away from the argument and cool down, a calm mind will help you make a smarter decision, an angry mind will make you say something you will regret. If you are feeling alone, it is always best to let your partner know, your partner may not realize you feel that way and can work on mending that aspect, or perhaps you might have depression, in which case your partner can help you.
What is certain is that, just like life, a relationship is not perfect. It is very much a give and take scenario. Maybe you feel like you are putting a lot into the relationship, while your partner seems to put nothing into it. This may be a sign that your partner isn’t committed to you or the relationship, it may also be a sign that you’re not letting her put anything into the relationship. Give some space and time, express your opinions and see if your partner starts contributing.
If things have gotten bad and you and your partner can’t visualize the same future together as yours (kids, marriage, moving, etc…) then it is time to consider calling it over.
Just remember, emotionally, no matter how far you fall, the ground will always be there for you to stand up from.
It is completely possible that I may be a complete Chemical Brother’s whore. What can I say, I have purchased every album they have come out with since I was 12, not to mention that the Chemical Brothers is one of the founding fathers of “big beat” electronic music.
Every time a Chemical Brothers album is released, I can barely contain myself, so when I heard about Further having a “Visual Experience” component to their deluxe album, I couldn’t resist and purchased it right away. Now I am not one for visualizer like displays going along with music, however, the visual experience for Further is astonishing. Not because it looks like a computer generated visualizer, but because about 90% of the visual experience that looks computer generated, is not! The visual experience of Further is mostly camera tricks, and high-speed camera shots, not computer generated images that would otherwise cost tens of thousands of dollars.
I recommend anyone that is a fan of big beat to pick up this album, especially the deluxe version, you will not regret it.

First and foremost, I must apologize for being so neglectful about updating my blog. It has been some time (almost three months) since I have posted my last article, and yes, it is mostly due to the fact that I have been incredibly busy at work, but I digress (besides, do you really want to read about my work life?).
On a positive note my household is growing by a family member tomorrow, albeit a furry family member. Myself and my girlfriend went down to the Calgary Humane Society last Friday, where I adopted a 2-year-old, female, black and white, short-hair, domestic cat. Now I have never owned a pet that wasn’t a rodent or a lagomorph, so this is my first experience with an animal that might be more intelligent than myself, which is why I have a girlfriend that is an animal lover. Breanne was able to pick out a nice, social, exploratory, cat, and we have purchased all the gear to make our home ready for Maggie (the cat). This is nice and all, but the real reason why I decided to adopt a cat was to help the Calgary Humane Society with their over-population of abandoned cats and to save a life.
June was the Calgary Humane Society’s “adopt a cat” month, where they waived the adoption fee’s for adopting a cat for a suggested donation of $100.00 CAD. Not only was this a great deal (because the Humane society pays for spaying/neutering, deworming, and vaccines) but it goes to a great cause. Now I am not an animal rights activist, but I still believe that life is precious, whether it is human or not. Whether you are religious or not, I believe every creature on this planet is born for a reason. These are our planet’s (or god’s if you believe in god) creatures and if we, as humans, are going to have them as pets, we should be doing our best to ensure that they have a happy natural life. Sadly, this does not seem to be the case with many pet owners in Calgary, so I am encouraging Calgarians to think about adopting an animal and saving more lives or donating to the Calgary Humane Society so that they can continue to give abandoned animals another chance and a healthy life.

I know, I know…
I haven’t posted in a while, and I am sure you are all going “but Todd, we’ve been waiting for months for a post.” It’s true, I haven’t posted anything since February; I have been a bad, bad little boy because of it.
For those of you not in the know (or do not have me as a facebook friend) I have recently been willingly kidnapped by a girl who has decided to take refuge and hold me hostage within my own house, completely not against my will. As you could imagine I have spent my time acquainting myself with her.
In all honesty, I have been supporting Breanne (my kidnapper I call girlfriend) with moving away from an emotionally abusive relationship. It’s been interesting to say the least. Her previous relationship thought it was okay to text her 80-100 times a day and email her 80-100 times a day, and then spam her on her video games all day long as well; a task I thought was humanly impossible to do, until I saw it with my own two eyes. He (the ex-boyfriend) was absolutely relentless, I have never seen anything like it, he would send cell phone texts in two parts, demanding replies and then sending another two part text message before there was even a chance to start texting a response. My girlfriend couldn’t get away fast enough, I had to configure her domain and change her domain MX records (thank you google apps) so that she could have an email system with email filters to block his heinous emails, which were littered with insults and swear words. Once he figured that we blocked his email, he started constantly bugging her on her video game, where she had to move all of her characters to another server (don’t ask, I don’t know, but it costs money to move characters to another server), once he couldn’t bug her on her video game he started texting her on her cell phone non-stop, until we had to change her cell phone number.
If you want to see what kind of individual he was just check out Breanne’s post on her website.
Apart from that you will see more postings on my site (which now feed into my facebook) as I have plenty of things to talk about now.

With valentines fast approaching I figured that now would be a good time for me give some advice to men buying flowers for their partners at this time of year. You’d think buying flowers would be a simple thing, just go to the grocery store, buy a dozen roses and be like every other man on this planet.
If you want to stand out however, you should seriously consider changing up the flowers you give, the sad thing about this is that in most cases, when you want to change up the flowers, you need to make a visit to a florist. If you are anything like my father, you probably think that every type of flower should be purchased in dozens and shouldn’t cost more than $30.
Sadly, this is not the case, so here is a little advice if you are interested in changing up your flowers for that someone special in your life.
Know your flowers
Always try to do a little research before you go into the florist, while you may think there is only one kind of rose and only one kind of lily, you will find out that in most cases, there are a whole range of variations on flower types. Of course, not every florist carries all variation of flowers so be sure to ask about availability.
Stem count
Florists sell flowers by the stem, depending on the type of flower a stem can have only one flower or a stem could have four to six flowers. Always be sure to ask how many flowers are on a stem. Coincidentally, the more flowers per stem, the more a stem costs (Rose per stem averages $2 – $5, Lily per stem Averages $10 – $15).
Which brings me to my next point…
Bouquet Size and Cost
Your bouquet size. Twelve rose stems is a nice sized bouquet, twelve lily stems on the other hand is outrageously gigantic (not to mention over $120 for the bouquet). On the other end of things four lily stems is a nice sized bouquet, but four roses is kinda small to put in a large vase (not to mention looks kinda cheap).
Try and aim in the $50 range for your bouquet from the florist if you are wanting to give something extra special.
Some other factors to think about.
A florist downtown in an office building where you work will always be more expensive than a florist in a suburban location.
